The one thing

We possess a mystical union with Christ, which means we share in all that pertains to Him, and He shares in all that pertains to us. Christ is involved in what we are doing and by His Spirit, we are awakened to what He is doing at the Father’s right hand, so that we may carry it out here on earth. For each of us, this has different applications and meanings, which is why it is called the ‘one thing’. The ‘one thing’ is what gives coherence to every other thing. It does not begin with activity, but first with a posture: an attentive communion, receptive perception, and participatory knowledge. In the midst of many other important things, one needs to prioritize the ‘one thing’ to bring coherence to everything else.
